Buckingham & India

Indian students have long been coming to study at The University of Buckingham with our first Indian student having graduated in 1981. Since then we have seen over 265 Indian students come to study at the University. At present there are 47 Indian students studying with us across each of our academic schools. Buckingham is best liked by Indian students for its two year undergraduate programmes and our truly international campus, with students joining us from over 90 countries.

Entry requirements

Foundation entry requirements

In order to study at foundation level you will need to have undertaken 12 years of education and attained:

  • Higher Secondary Certificate / Standard 12 (awarded on completion of Grade 12) with four subjects at 50%.

As proof of English language proficiency you would need one of the following:

  • For September start an IELTS score of 5.5, with 5.0 or above in each section
  • For January start an IELTS score of 6.0, with 5.5 or above in each section

The grades quoted above give an indication of a typical offer; at the Admissions Tutor’s discretion alternative qualifications or gradings may be considered. All applications will be considered individually and work experience and other interdisciplinary achievements are taken into consideration when deciding upon all applications. Applicants may also be invited to interview.

Undergraduate entry requirements

In order to study at undergraduate level (Bachelor’s degree), you will normally need to have attained one of the following:

  • Three A-levels at grade B or higher or equivalent
  • IB score of between 29 and 34 (depending on the degree subject) or equivalent
  • Higher Secondary Certificate/Standard XII, with 2 scores at 65% or above and 2 scores at 75% or above. We will consider the following qualifications: Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)/Standard XII; Senior Secondary School Certificate (NIOS) ; India School Certificate (Class-XII) ; Senior School Certificate Examination (CBSE) ; India School Certificate (Class XII) (CISCE)

*Applicants for undergraduate Law programmes are normally expected to have achieved additional qualifications, such as a first degree.

English Language Requirements

The following English Language Qualifications will be considered in lieu of our published IELTS (or equivalent) requirements, except for applications from Punjab and Haryana.

  • Indian National Boards – CBSE or CISCE Score of 75% in English (additional interviewing conditions may also apply).
  • Indian 12th Standard Examination: Score of 75% in English (additional interviewing conditions may also apply).

We would accept the above scores without interview provided:

You have taken the examination no more than three years before the start of your course with us.

Or

Your undergraduate degree has been taught and assessed in English and you completed your degree studies no more than three years before the start of your course with us.

Postgraduate entry requirements

In order to study at postgraduate level (Master’s degree), you will normally need to have attained:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognised higher education institution, with Second Class/Division (50-64%) equivalent to a British Bachelor’s (Honours) degree, with a minimum of a 2:2, depending on school of study.

The grades quoted above give an indication of a typical offer; at the Admissions Tutor’s discretion, alternative qualifications or gradings may be considered. All applications will be considered individually and work experience and other interdisciplinary achievements are taken into consideration when deciding upon all applications. Applicants may also be invited to interview.

English Language Requirements

The following English Language Qualifications will be considered in lieu of our published IELTS (or equivalent) requirements, except for applications from Punjab and Haryana.

  • Indian National Boards – CBSE or CISCE Score of 75% in English (additional interviewing conditions may also apply).
  • Indian 12th Standard Examination: Score of 75% in English (additional interviewing conditions may also apply).

Postgraduate applicants would need to take IELTS if there are any gaps in study, such as working/care leave etc. since graduation from a course taught through the medium of English for more than three years.

Beyond business, Mudit has been actively involved with Let’s Make a Difference since 2009, driven by his belief in “Live and Learn to Love and Serve.” With an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for innovation, he continues to explore new avenues for growth, excellence, and impact.


Agents

We work closely with counsellors and overseas representatives who can advise you on how to apply for your degree as well as in completing your visa application.

You are not obliged to make an application through an agent but we strongly recommend that you consult with them if you require a visa counselling service. The International Office may be able to assist you with your application and let you know what documentation you need to prepare but are unable to offer advice on visas.
