Latest edition of ‘Fanfare’ now available

Vicky TomopoulouThe second edition of The Department of English and Digital Media’s groundbreaking journalism project Fanfare magazine has been published and is available FREE from the University Bookshop and from The Department of English and Digital Media, Chandos Road Building.

An online version is available at http://joom.ag/Pz9p.

As in 2014, the publication is a collaborative enterprise between students on two discrete modules, Press Journalism and Design for Print, overseen by Journalism Lecturer Richard Adamson and Publication Design Lecturer Vicky Tomopoulou.

Journalism students submitted news, feature and profile assignments which were, in turn, conceptualised by Design for Print students as pages for their final assessed coursework.

Richard Adamson, Sir Ray Tindle Lecturer in Journalism said: “As any Hollywood new kid on the block knows, the toughest act to follow is your own debut blockbuster.

“But with this second edition, students have excelled themselves. Fanfare No.2 magazine could hold its own on any newsstand rack of commercial publications in the UK.

“Which only goes to prove that reports of the death of print have been greatly exaggerated.
Eat your heart out, all you internet cyber-junkies!”
